The Corporate Readiness Training Program (CRTP) at Bow Valley College has been helping internationally educated professionals gain Canadian work experience for over 20 years. Our team is focused on your success.

CRTP BOW VALLEY COLLEGE APPLICATION AND FUNDING PROCESS

Complete the required steps for your application and obtain the necessary documents:

• Complete your Bow Valley College Application Form
• Obtain a copy of your most recent English language scores. Your language score results are valid for two years from the day of testing with a minimum of CLB 6 or equivalent in all levels (L, S, R and W). CLB, IELTS and CELPIP scores are accepted.
• Obtain a copy of your resumé
• Obtain a copy of your proof of citizenship, PR Card or refugee status (landing paper or notice of decision document)
• Complete your application submission document, instructions below

APPLICATION SUBMISSION DOCUMENT INSTRUCTIONS

The application submission should be submitted as one double-spaced document that explains your professional experience, career goals and computer skills. Application submissions should be accurate, concise and proofread.
There are three sections in the application submission:

1. Letter of Interest and Professional Career Goals
2. Job Application History
3. Computer Skills

Instructions for Writing your Application Submission

1. Letter of Interest and Professional Career Goals

Write a response to the following four questions. Your response to the four questions in this section should a maximum of 300 words:
1. How did you first learn about CRTP and why are you interested in applying to the program?
2. What are your professional career goals and how could the program help you to achieve your goals?
3. What steps you have taken since arriving to Calgary towards achieving your professional career goals?
4. With respect to your professional career goals, what are your relevant strengths and skills, please address both your technical and soft skills?

2. Job Application History 
Create a table of at least five (5) companies where you have recently applied for employment, include the job position title and industry sector. Rate how closely the skill requirements of the position match your education and experience using the following scale to rate your level of competency:
4: Advanced Competence; 3: Average Competence; 2: Below Average Competence; 1: No Competence

3. Computer Skills
Create a table to demonstrate your computer skills particularly those relating to your professional career goals. Include the number of years of experience, level of proficiency, types of tasks done and any pertinent certification. Please use the following scale to rate your level of competency:
4: Advanced Competence; 3: Average Competence; 2: Below Average Competence; 1: No competence

Submit your application package to the Bow Valley College, Office of the Registrar (345 - 6th Avenue SE Calgary, AB T2G 4V1 located on the main floor of the South Campus, beside Tim Hortons).
Confirm you have included all the required documents. Incomplete applications may not be processed.

  • Application fee (non-refundable and non-transferable)

Your application package will be reviewed. You may be contacted about your application, if any clarification is required.

Eligible applicants: If your application meets the eligibility requirements, you will receive an email providing instructions on the application process for Alberta Works funding.

Ineligible applicants: If your application does not meet the eligibility requirements, you will receive an email with recommendations for alternative services.

ALBERTA WORKS FUNDING APPLICATION PROCESS FOR ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS

Step 1. Once you have received notification that you are ACCEPTED into CRTP (this will be an email and a hard copy letter to you from Bow Valley College, Office of the Registrar), you may complete your Alberta Works Funding application.

Step 2. In person, submit your completed Alberta Works funding application to the Bow Valley College, Office of the Registrar.

Bow Valley College, Office of the Registrar generates a Training Provider Information (TPI) to be included in your application for funding to Alberta Works. The Office of the Registrar will send your funding application to Alberta Works for processing. Please note, the average processing time for Alberta Works funding is 6 to 8 weeks.

CRTP students are registered in the program when a program seat is available and funding eligibility from Alberta Works is approved.  This is a first applied, qualified, accepted and funded basis. You may be placed on a waitlist if there is no space in the program (see below for information).

A few weeks prior to the start date of the program registered learners will be an email with information on the class start date, classroom number and schedule.

Eligible for Alberta Works Funding: If you are approved for funding from Alberta Works you will receive a confirmation email from the Bow Valley College, Office of the Registrar that you are registered in CRTP. You need to accept your offer of admission to CRTP prior to the deadline and email provided to you to confirm your seat in the program.

Ineligible for Alberta Works Funding: If you are not approved for funding through Alberta Works correspondence will be sent to you from the Alberta Works office. Please call Alberta Supports 1-877-644-9992 with your questions regarding your funding application.

WAITLIST PROCESS WHEN CRTP IS AT CAPACITY

A waitlist may be created with applicants who met the eligibility requirements and have Alberta Works funding approved. Applicants placed on the waitlist receive an email with information on the next steps. Please note: The waitlist gets dissolved after the first week of the program.

Bow Valley College, Office of the Registrar cancels applications that have not be approved for funding or have not been offered a seat in the program.
